Dog Stories and Poetry

Dogs are such great
companions. They give unconditional love and ask very little
in return for their devotion. They just love to be with
their owners. That is probably the pack mentality that they
seem to have. Many don’t need to be the center of
attraction, they are happy just laying at your feet or under
the table while you eat. Then again, there are some dogs
that would prefer to be eating at the table with you! But
dogs just don’t ask for much out of life. Many don’t even
need toys. A stick from the yard is as valuable as an
expensive toy from the pet store. A used tennis ball is more
valuable to many dogs than a fancy store bought toy. Dogs
are easy to get along with and forgive quickly. Too bad most
humans don’t have the same traits.

A
True Friendship
A crumb
from the donut
a piece of toast
that’s all it takes
no need to boast.
A scratch on the ear
a pat on the head
a quiet “good doggie”
no more said.
A walk in the park
a ride in the car
no need to go fast
no need to go far.
Always there
happy and content
a tried and true friendship
no need to invent.
